Which iPhones does Totality support?

Totality requires iOS 17 or later and ARKit, which means iPhone XS (2018) or newer. The AR overlay uses the camera and motion sensors — no extra hardware needed.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Yes — completely. All astronomy is computed on-device with arcsecond-accurate ephemerides. In the Icelandic highlands or on a remote Spanish ridge with zero bars, everything still works.

I'm not in the path of totality. Is it still useful?

Absolutely. Most of Europe gets a dramatic partial eclipse, and Totality computes your exact coverage percentage, timings, and where to look from any location on Earth.

How accurate are the predictions?

Solar and lunar positions are computed to arcsecond accuracy, and your local contact times are given to the second, for your precise GPS position and altitude — not the nearest town.

Do I still need eclipse glasses?

Yes. Never look at the sun without certified eclipse glasses (ISO 12312-2), except during the brief moments of totality itself. Totality helps you point and plan — your eyes still need proper protection.
